Darling husband just hit the roof, I'm afraid. I was so inspired by Becoming Jane and Jane Austen's "living by her pen" that I went directly to the Big Box Book Store (Barnes and Noble) and bought a $40.00 lap desk. When I returned home and displayed my proud purchase, he was indignantly un-excited. Then, noting my broken-hearted dismay, he's softened a bit. Punch line: I still have to return it--when he opened to box to inspect said-lap desk, he noticed that it was damaged. They've assured me an exchange.
