It occurred to me on my drive home, when white-tree-petals floated down to the pavement before me, that they were like God's confetti, thrown. The birds in the branches, His little noisemakers. My party hat, the thinking cap He gave me to wear. And I could pin the tail on the donkey-driver behind me who thinks I go too slowly down this lane. God throws one heck of a party called Spring.
