Untitled.

He asked me on the way to Chattanooga to tell him some of my "novel ideas." Not great ideas, mind you, but book ideas. I really wanted to duck-and-run the question, so I said, "I've got a million of 'em." Not surprisingly, he wasn't satisfied with that. So I begrudgingly admitted to having only four. (Three of which he'd heard already.) When I told him the premise of the fourth, he said with interest, "That's really good. I like that." So I'm in my red-roomed basement-cubby, with my newly hung crimson velvet curtains (!) trying to make a go of it. This is the only one for which I have no title. Yet.

OH! YES. You go! I'm so excited for you.

And only the teeniest itsy little bit jealous that A) You have four ideas for novels and that B)You're actually going to write on said ideas and not just let them circle around in your head.

Not that I would know ANYTHING about that. At all.

I love taking stories that we delude ourselves into believing we created, only for the characters to spill out of our minds making choices which shock us...

this is the best part of waking up, for a writer... (that and living in pjs)

Very proud of you. I hope this blog silence means that you're busy writing -- or that you're at least busy thinking about writing :) Don't give up! I can't wait to buy one of your books and have you sign it for me. And refer to "my friend the author" in conversations.

Interesting that you think of my home as your dream house. Have you ever been to Glenridge? Would you like to? jm

Would I?!! You humble me by the very idea, Mr. Mayson. I've loved it only in pictures...
